Character
Character Name: Alistair Theirin
Series: Dragon Age: Origins
Gender: Male
Age & Canon Point: 25? 26? Somewhere around there. DA:O is pretty open about how you progress through it; that said, being that my progression usually goes Lothering/Circle Tower/Redcliffe, this version of Alistair will be coming from Redcliffe, right about the time he embarrasedly tells the Warden he's a bastard.
Requested Sponsor: None, as he's a SeeD, but he would have been Lapis as a cadet.
Entry position (Cadet, SeeD, Instructor, other): SeeD. "I can't teach! Raised by dogs, remember? I don't have the parts to imitate their methods. Oh sure, I could wave my rump back and forth, but without a real tail it just loses something."
History: (Wiki link or 400-500 word summary. If they're arriving with memories from another RP, tell us about it here.) Have two! I am not bringing him in with memories from another game, though I have had him in one.Wiki ||Bioware site

Notable differences are in his version of reality (under the Darkspawn Chronicles heading in the first link), he did NOT annul the Circle Tower during Broken Circle. The rest are pretty much up in the air, from the point in time I'm taking him from. Alistair has not yet presented "his" Warden with a rose. I figure while this cuts his power a bit because of taking him from early in the timeline, it will also make him less mopey. No one wants a mopey Alistair. NO ONE.

He went through the compulsory SeeD courses, though being Alistair, most of them he probably did not shine at. Save for weapons training--of course he went bladed specialist. Guardian Forces and paramagic blew his mind, assuming that with his Templar abilities he could even wield the magic stuff.

Abilities & Physical Abnormalities: (If your character has anything that would be considered out of the norm - please be succinct.)Wiki links are probably easiest! So have some more. Suffice it to say Alistair's probably a go-to man for Sorceress hunting. Powers wise, at least.Bioware's Templar site ||Dragon Age Wikia

I assume the taint will be frozen. Also, notably, Alistair is not a fully trained Templar and is not subject to the lyrium addiction that they are.

Personality: (~300-500 minimum. Generally what we're looking for is things like main personality traits (positive or negative), flaws or expansion on negative personality traits, self-images, motivation/goals, beliefs/values, opinions/attitudes and quirks and mannerisms.)

Alistair is a Grey Warden, one of the last two in Ferelden. The former in and of itself is very important to him, as it shaped his life more than being sent to the Chantry, at least to him. He viewed Duncan, the man who recruited him into the Grey Wardens, as something of a father figure, as much (if not more so) than Arl Eamon Guerin was. Alistair only knows that his mother was a serving wench who died birthing him. His father, however, was Maric Theirin, King of Ferelden. He seems almost embarrassed about that fact when he reveals it to the Warden at Redcliffe Village, though.

He tends to be a bit on the naive and innocent side, seeming to want to believe in the best in people, and nearly (more like outright) pouting if he's disappointed. He is moral, friendly, loyal, and good of heart, the latter two of which were what led Duncan to exercise the Right of Conscription on him and bring him into the Wardens in the first place.

Until one gets to know him, Alistair seems to be something of a social chameleon, presenting the person with what he believes they want to see. Goofiness is a defense mechanism, for him. He is somewhat shy, and can also be sarcastic. He isn't very quick to anger, but challenging his beliefs or mocking him is a good way to get him there, as evidenced by his near-rivalry with Morrigan the witch. She mocks him, he mocks her back, and there's a general sense of one-upsmanship--that Alistair usually loses, because Morrigan's a bit more clever than he is.

Alistair has absolutely NO love of being in the lead. He generally defers to the Warden character in-game, and quips at one point, "Bad things happen when I lead. We get lost, people die, and the next thing you know, I'm stranded somewhere without any pants." And despite the jocularity, he really seems to mean it.

Yes, he also claims (often) that he was raised by dogs.

What are your plans for the character in-game? DERPING OMG THE DERPING. Because, well, Alistair is like that. More seriously, I imagine having gone through the usual instruction year to get to be a SeeD, he might have actually taken a leadership class, though he still doesn't actually want to do it--more a "let's see how the other side lives" sort of thing.

Anything else? Alistair loves cheese!

IC
Complete TWO out of the FOUR options.

(As this questionnaire is entirely IC, your character is free to lie.)
What do you prefer to be known as? Alistair?

How old are you? They never kept good track of this at the Chantry. 26?

Do you have any history in combat? Maker, yes! I am a Grey Warden!

If so, have you ever killed? Darkspawn, mostly, but yes. I don't like killing people.

i) How do you feel when you get involved in some project that calls for immediate and rapid activity? That does tend to be what I'm good at!

ii) Do you organize and initiate leisure activities? Oh...not really. I don't like to be the one in charge.

iii) What role do you take when working in a group? Usually I'm the one who gets hit. I don't like leading. *toothy grin*

iv) How talkative are you around other people? It depends, but I always have an opinion!

v) What three things would you want to have with you on a desert island? State your reasoning. Uh. Wow. I have--no idea. My sword and shield and armor, I guess. I can find other things to...do other things, like fires and whatnot. Wow.

vi) Is it important to be liked by a wide range of people? Some people won't like you no matter what you do. So I guess not.

vii) When the odds are against you, is it worth taking a chance? Yes. Sometimes it's the only way to get through.

viii) Do you consider yourself to be an impulsive person? I don't think so, but...Duncan always said I should try to think more before I acted...

ix) Would you agree that planning things ahead takes the fun out of life? Not always!

x) Do you like surprises? No. Not really...

xi) Do you sometimes wonder if there is something wrong with you? I don't, but Morrigan keeps telling me there is...

xii) Do you consider yourself to be smarter than your superiors, and disagree with their decisions? Oh, no. Not really. Duncan was my superior and I was pretty sure he knew everything...at least everything there was to know about being a Grey Warden.

xiii) Lastly, how do you feel about cabbages? Cabbages? Uh. I like cheese better!

Prose sample:

He really had tried his best, but it seemed that even now, Alistair was going to be foiled. All of the cadets were in class--it should have been a cake walk to just sneak into the Cafeteria and make off with some food, any food, but Maker, cheese would have been a blessing from Andraste herself--but it was not to be.

The head cook stood there, a massive form in the doorway, though his back was turned. The students rumored that he was a formidable man and by his sheer size, Alistair had to agree with them. There was just no way that he was going to be able to sneak past--

At that moment, the cook turned, and glared down at Alistair, who had been hiding behind a serving rack. The Warden offered him a cheesy, cheeky grin, and rose to his feet, pretending to adjust his armor.

"Right, I dropped my gauntlet, but I found it. Here it is! See? I'll--just be going now, no need to worry yourself! See you at lunch time!"

He gave the other man a cheerful wave, ignoring the scorn with which the cook glared at him, and managed to saunter off, feeling very much as if he'd dodged a crossbow bolt.
